Close ups

I’ve had some comments on the trillium painting and people have asked what still needs to be done. I thought I’d share some close ups of the areas I still need to work on.

With the first layer of paint I concentrate on trying to get the lights and darks in the right spots and the basic colours and shapes. When I do the second (or third!) layer I sharpen the edges, deepen the colours and put in more detail. These areas only have one layer of paint.

I like how you’ve gotten the light — perfect for an early spring day with strong light and the trilliums blooming. Reminds me of the woods in the spring where I grew up. I can almost feel the sun and am perhaps getting a mild headache from the scent of trillium.
