Hanging unfinished work – Day 346

This weekend I did something I thought I’d never do – I hung an unfinished painting in someone else’s home.

My friend Donna has been interested in the painting of the trilliums since she first saw it and thought it would go nicely on a large wall in her living room. A couple of weeks ago she mentioned she love to have it on the wall for the Christmas party she was having on December 8th. I did spend a week working on it but there was no way I was going to have it ready in time. She said that she’d like to have it on the wall for the party anyway, and I thought she was joking. It turns out she wasn’t!

John and I showed up on Saturday night with the painting in hand and got it hung on the wall. It looked like it was made for the spot! It made me a little uncomfortable to display a painting that wasn’t complete….I kept seeing every little thing that still needs to be finished. I received a lot of compliments on it though and everyone thought it was already done. A couple of people asked for my card so there might be some new commissions in the future!

Thank you! It’s still there but it will be coming back to me to finish. I have a couple of paintings to complete for Christmas and then I’ll be finishing this one up!
