A new canvas on the easel – Day 251

I’ve put a new canvas on my easel – the trilliums I have been drawing out now and then over the past little while.

It’s 24″ x 36″ with big white trilliums in the foreground, a split rail fence in the middle and large trees in the background. I took the photo last spring (in the rain) and have drawn it on the canvas using a grid.

Normally I would put a lot of detail into the drawing but since I’ve been doing the palette knife painting without any drawing at all I thought I would experiment with this painting a bit. I have a lot of detail in the trilliums and foliage in the front but have just drawn in basic shapes for the fence and trees. The detail will come at the painting stage with this one. I’ll let you know how it goes!
