I was up extra early this morning to work on the split rail fence and I’m much happier with the progress I’m making. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
Tonight I rode the Big Bike for Heart and Stroke with the Wally’s Wheels team. Wally and I have been friends since I moved to the area 15 years ago and we talk to each other nearly every day. We’ve worked together on a number of projects and we co-chair the local Canada Day celebrations.
Wally had bypass surgery 10 years ago and since then has spearheaded Wally’s Wheels to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation by riding the Big Bike. I’m a fairly new member to the team (I’ve been on it for 3 or 4 years….I’m horrible with dates) and we have consistently been the team with the highest donation amounts. This year we raised $8,319!
The Big Bike is just that….a really big bike that holds 29 people and the driver. We all wore our Wally’s Wheels t-shirts – this year’s was purple and pink – and we pump the music, work the noisemakers, and ride the Big Bike through downtown! It’s always a good time.
I’m so proud to be part of this team!
