Really big pots of flowers – Day 140

I started my day with the usual painting on the split rail fence. I’m getting close to being done!!!!

It was a beautiful summer day here today – sunny and 26C. First thing this morning we hit the garden centers to get the rest of the annuals we needed for our containers.

Yesterday John bought two huge pots at Costco for only $19.95 each. They’re 20″ in diameter and at least that in height. As soon as I saw them I had visions of them chock full of beautiful plants.

So, three garden centers and a hundred dollars later, we had the annuals for all our containers, including the new big planters.

I always do up my hanging baskets and I’m pretty frugal with the plants knowing that they will get bigger fairly quickly and will be nice and showy. I’m not sure why, but these really big planters were different somehow. I had the urge to pack them full of plants and that’s exactly what I did.

There are two mandevilla in the middle, and around that are wave petunias in pink, white and purple, a miniature white rose and sweet potato vine. I stuffed a whole bunch of plants into each of the big pots and I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow. They should make an incredible show of blooms in the next couple of weeks.

I hope you had a great Saturday!
