It’s not as bad as I thought – Day 115

Yesterday I was feeling down because the split rail fence felt like it was taking forever to paint. This morning I got a real early start (thanks to my cat who woke me up at 4:45) and I spent an hour and half painting.

I concentrated on the fence again and tried to just let the paint flow and not think too much.

Instead of posting yet another picture of the whole painting I thought I’d show you a before and after of a section of the painting.

This was before I started this morning:

and this is after I painted the second layer:

Hopefully you can see the difference! I’m not set up to get the best photos of the canvas but hopefully this will give you some idea of my progress. I certainly felt better after seeing what I was able to accomplish this morning!

I can see that you added more to the grass too, Brenda. It looks more lush and there is more contrast between it and the cedar fence. It is a lovely painting and looks just like what I see in my neighbour’s fence line. Whoever buys it will be very happy with it on their wall.

Thank you! I’m starting to see the progress….I guess I just needed to look at it differently. I’m planning on entering it into the Lindsay Gallery’s Juried Show in June/July.
