After being away for Tweetstock it was nice to get home. I am really enjoying painting in the morning, it is my favourite time of day. There’s something great about watching the light change as the sun comes up and things get brighter. The birds are quite loud in the morning as well and I enjoy listening to them chatter.
I haven’t finished the first layer of paint on the split rail fence but my goal is to have it completed by the end of the weekend. This layer is really the most important since it sets the stage for what’s to come. Since I’m working in oil paint it is fairly easy to paint over an area if I need to fix something but the more time I take on the first layer the less of that I have to do. It pays to do it right the first time!
Tonight my youngest son Mitch took me out for dinner for my birthday. He took me to Pane Vino, our favourite restaurant, where he used to work. He had the opportunity to catch up with the staff and of course dinner was fabulous. We also chatted with Louis, the owner, who has agreed to display my paintings later this summer! They feature a different artist every month or so and he says people have been quite successful in selling their work. He’s going to confirm the timeline with me but it looks like it’ll probably be July.
