Today I had an appointment in Peterborough so I took the opportunity to spend some visiting other artists in the area.
I met Jeff Macklin of Jackson Creek Press at Artrepreneur a month or so ago and today I had the opportunity to tour his shop. It’s in his garage and it is 100 sq. ft. of creative awesomeness! He has a couple of presses and drawers and drawers of type, and he carves images into lino blocks for printing. Fascinating. Jeff has just recently become a full time artist so we spent time discussing exhibitions, marketing, grants and what opportunities are available for artists in the area.
The next artist I visited was my Dad 🙂 We had a lovely dinner together and he showed me his latest painting which is a 36″ x 36″ landscape. He always does an orange underpainting which provides a warmth to the painting. He works much more methodically than I do, I like to jump from area to area. His work (and mine) can be found online at www.stonehouseart-design.com.
As for me, I worked on Tied to a Dream this morning since I knew it was going to be a busy day. This evening I’m off to the PeterTweeter Awards to meet up with some of the best and brightest in the Twitter world!
