Today I watched some videos of artists doing paintings on the iPad. Fascinating! The best by far was a portrait done by David Kassen, an artist from Brooklyn. The video shows in 7 minutes how he paints the portrait of the live model using the Brushes app on the iPad and only his finger! The finished work is simply stunning.
Feeling inspired, tonight I downloaded the Brushes app and started playing. I got out my binder of resource photos (that might one day end up as paintings) and found a picture I took in the autumn at the Port Sydney Falls. The falls are behind me so they aren’t actually in this photo but this is one of my favourite places in the world. I love the trees, the rocks, the colour and the beautiful reflection in the water.
I’m pretty happy with my first painting done with this app!
