Day 3 – Back to reality

I was back to work today after a great holiday so I was wondering how I would make out on Day 3 of 365 Days of Drawing. Isn’t is funny when you are wondering about something and exactly what you need appears? I happened upon this great article in The Guardian – Top artists reveal how to find creative inspiration. I started just by quickly scanning and then I ended up slowing down and savouring every piece of advice. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you are a musician, a writer, a dancer, a choreographer or an artist, everyone has the same challenges in finding their inspiration.

Tonight I decided to play with Sketchbook Pro on the iPad2. What a fabulous app! I thought I would start with something simple so I grabbed the little angel figurine my son Devon gave me years ago and started drawing. Here’s the result after just over an hour figuring out how to use the different settings. I’m looking forward to doing more in this medium!

I also received this link from my father today from the BBC on a href=”″>David Hockney’s Instant iPad Art. It is truly amazing where technology has taken us! It’s great to see artists pushing the boundaries and embracing new ways of creating.

Inspiration is always before us! At university I witnessed attractive drawings by students of the contents of their dorm closet e.g., shoes. It was what they had ease of access to. Though the creative process they managed to transform a subject that is overlooked into a masterpiece.
